Thread veins are small, visible blood vessels close to the skin's surface. They often appear as fine red, purple or blue lines on the face or legs and are usually harmless.
What causes thread veins?
Genetics, ageing, sun exposure, rosacea, hormonal changes, pregnancy and prolonged standing may contribute. Facial thread veins can also follow inflammation, injury or long-term use of strong topical steroids.
