Dark circles are shadowing or discolouration beneath the eyes. They may look brown, blue, purple or grey depending on skin tone, blood vessels, pigmentation and the shape of the under-eye area.
What causes dark circles?
Genetics, thin skin, visible blood vessels, pigmentation, allergies, rubbing, sun exposure and tiredness may all contribute. Hollowness or puffiness can also cast shadows that make the area appear darker.
